KMF26 will bring together the people shaping local journalism, civic life, research, academia and the arts. We’re gathering the practitioners, policymakers, funders and thought leaders that make up our Knight Foundation network to share ideas, stories, resources and lessons from our work on the ground.
Together, we’ll explore how local action and national ideas connect and inform one another, spotlight local leaders driving change in their communities and host forward-looking conversations about today’s most pressing challenges and opportunities.
In a time of rapid change, KMF26 will look to the future of the local information landscape, civic life in the age of artificial intelligence, the First Amendment and more.
Designed for connection, expect shared meals, artistic experiences and time simply to meet, reflect and recharge together.
Knight Media Forum 2026 will kick off with a welcome reception on the evening of Tuesday, February 10, and conclude after breakfast on Friday, February 13. The KMF team has also curated a city guide to help you make the most of your time in Miami.
KMF26 is dedicated to serving Knight Foundation’s grantees and the communities where we work. The event is by invitation only, with no registration fee and discounted accommodations are available for registrants on a first-come first-served basis.

About Knight Media Forum
Nineteen years ago, Knight Foundation launched the Knight Media Learning Seminar with a simple idea: bring together local funders, civic leaders and innovators in journalism, policy and education to tackle shared challenges. That idea grew into what is now Knight Media Forum; a national gathering where leaders in news, philanthropy, academia and the arts come together to strengthen local communities. In 2026, KMF will welcome nearly 1,000 attendees for our largest convening yet. The expanded program is designed for deeper learning, new connections and shared inspiration.
In addition, each year, Knight Foundation and the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) convene library, civic and philanthropic leaders from across the country to explore the opportunities and challenges facing libraries. This year, the Library Leaders Conference will take place on February 11-12, 2026 during Knight Media Forum. Knight Foundation is proud to support this opportunity for public library leaders to connect, collaborate and learn from one another. During this convening, we will explore how libraries can cultivate self-determination and a shared sense of community. Knight Media Forum attendees are welcome to attend. A: KMF is Knight Foundation’s signature annual event, designed to connect our network and provide practical tools and shared resources.

A: KMF is an invitation-only event. If you received an invitation via email, you will be able to register with your email address. Invitees will be given the opportunity to nominate a person they think should receive an invitation upon registering. Invitations to KMF are non-transferable.

A: Attendees are responsible for their accommodation and travel. Other than that, there are no costs to attend KMF.
